Allergy and Skin Problems

itching itchy scratching lumps bumps pet's skin cancer flea allergy

Itchy and irritable skin can be frustrating for both the pet and the owner.  Like people, cats and dogs can suffer from allergies and these fall into three main categories - flea allergy dermatitis, atopy, and food allergy.  Many pets can be affected by one or more allergy.  Our experienced team can recommend solutions to solve these problems.

Other skin problems that your pet may suffer include lumps and bumps found on your pet's skin.  Although most lumps are harmless it is impossible to tell what sort of lump you are looking at.  There are many different things that can cause swellings - bruising or fluid build-up, abscesses, things attached to the skin (eg. small parasites) and, of course, cancers.  If you find any unusual lump or swelling on your pet you should ask your veterinarian to check it out.  Although most lumps are harmless, some can be very dangerous if left untreated, of particular concern are cancers.
